Your 5 Friends and the Purpose They Serve

There are 5 different types of friends. Every friend in your circle serves a purpose. The idea is to recognize what each of your friends bring to the table and what kind of friend you are to them. The purpose of this list is to give an outline of what kind of people you attract and what you can have less or more of in your life.
Knowing who you are associating with can help you weed out the negativity and embrace the positivity.

The first is the optimist. The optimist is the person that sees the brighter side of every situation. This friend is always looking for the positive, silver lining of your circumstance. He/she plays a very important role in your life. When you find yourself in difficult situation, at a crossroad, or feel as if there is little to no good that can come from your situation; if there is any good to be found, they will find it. While their chipper, optimistic outlook may be welcomed and comforting, it may also not be a realistic viewpoint.

Then there is the pessimist. The pessimist will find every and any negative perspective or possibility in any given situation. This person's role is just as important as the optimist because while you may not see the possibility of anything going awry, he/she will find it, but the best pessimists also suggests options to negate or avoid the downturn. While their paranoia may come in handy in preparation for the unsavory possibilities within your situation, sometimes their views can do more harm than good. Their innate negative outlook can give you a sense of apprehension and may very well deter you from a possibly positive, elevating change in your life..

The realist is just that. The realist is the person that provides the middle ground. This person will consider the positive and negative possibilities and may very well lean toward the left or right, but will typically give you the advice that has the more realistic outcome. This person is important because their viewpoint is not narrowed by their fear and not clouded by their desire to find the good in every situation either.

We can not forget about the narcissist. The narcissist is very rarely, genuinely concerned about your life, trials, or circumstances. This person will find a way to revert every conversation back to themselves. We all know a narcissist or two, and while their other personality traits may draw us to them initially, you must remember to minimize your involvement with these people and be very conscious about how many investments you make into these relationships. In these relationships, you will not likely get out as much as you put in.

Last but certainly not least, there's the mama or daddy of the crew. This person is the one that goes out of their way for you and everybody else. This person just wants to make sure you are good and will do nothing short of the impossible to make sure you are ok. They are the most helpful, caring and kind of person that will counsel you and share any information they have that could be useful to you. These people are the best and most rare kind of friend, but when you find them, no matter where you fall on this list, be a little more conscious and attentive to that person because they could use someone to care and help them too.

Know your friends and appreciate the purpose they serve in your life.
