It's All Good
All of our experiences are meant to serve a positive purpose in our lives. Yes, the good, bad, and the ugly of life has meaning and brings the gift of a positive lesson in tow. They are all meant to teach us something about ourselves, our relationships, or circumstance. It is our job to figure out what that lesson is. While the moment may be a negative one, you must always seek out the lesson it was meant to teach you, find the positive impact it will have on your life, and what your trial or disappointment is revealing to you about yourself.
Disappointments are just minor set-backs. Do not give them more credit than they deserve and certainly do not let them deter you from what you want to do or where you want to be. Avoid giving your minor set-backs too much clout. The less power they have- the better. Self pity is not a good look on anybody. We gain nothing by wallowing in our disappointments. Nothing stands in our way more than our own fears. We truly can be our own worst critic, arch nemesis, and biggest obstacle. These things may be true, but these are all things that can be changed and are completely in your control. Some say, 'when you know better you do better'. Only you can define how a disappointment will impact your life. Stay in the positive and move forward.
Here's the key: some people will still take advantage of your kindness. Some mates do cheat. Some clients may walk. At the end of the day, even under the worst circumstances, you have to find what it is you stand to gain from your experiences instead of what you have to lose or have lost. Spending too much time focusing on your losses slows your progress. Now, this is not to say you should ignore your feelings or emotions about the things that happen in your life (please don't, your head will explode), but to dwell on them or let them distract you from your ultimate goal is the greatest tragedy of them all. Take a moment to acknowledge your emotional response and then refocus. Spend very little time reviewing the situation, use some time to find the lesson in it, and spend the rest of your time moving on. Get back to the big picture knowing that you are another day wiser and another step closer to your goal and becoming a better version of yourself in the process.
