The Truth About Your Purpose

For most young adults their greatest anxiety is finding what to do with their life. Most are overflowing with many gifts and talents. The difficulty lies in choosing one to fully throw oneself into and resolving to stay committed at all costs. Figuring out what task you will take on day in and day out for the next forty years or so is one if not the biggest fear that smothers, hinders, and scares this generation. Here is the truth, you will be best at whatever path you choose- relax. Do not be spooked by fear of failure because at the core of all anxiety and worry are their parents, fear and failure. Both are merely activated by your attitude towards them. Their power and strength are merely fed by your willingness to let them rule your thoughts. Focus your attention on what feels right to your soul. Speak it out loud. Affirm it, and do the work that is required to become a master of it. Recognize yourself as a painter, writer, officer, or teacher and commit yourself to what is necessary to be just that. If you want to be a painter, buy a canvas, brushes, a smock, some oils and get to work! Take some classes to study your craft, practice it, and make sure it feels good and authentic to you. Your job is not to find what to do, but to finally acknowledge what gifts rise from within you and then deciphering how you will go about setting them free.
