Be You!

Who are you? The question we as a generation are presently struggling to figure out. Through most of our twenties and hopefully, only some of our thirties, we will chase the answer to that question. After looking under every rock of possibility, stumbling over the jagged ones of what would appear to be opportunity, and avoiding, going around, under, or over the boulders with potential but clearly not a good fit for us; we will eventually find a path that is comfortable. Right now, you may not have everything you hope for, the car, the house, the job of your dreams, or that special someone to share your journey with, but that does not mean you never will. Stay focused. Be about your business. Most importantly, stay positively productive. Get in the habit of doing something every day to bring you closer to your dreams. No matter how long the journey may seem to be, when you know what you want, have a plan on how to get it, and be in the act of making it happen. Talk the talk, and walk the walk. There is no greater asset than knowing you have the knowledge, the power, and endurance to achieve what you set your mind to. The key is to remain diligent. Practice your craft, utilize your resources, and pace yourself to build endurance.

Remember, you are not in a race against anyone else. The goal is to finish, complete, and achieve your dreams, goals, and aspirations for yourself. No one's pace or drive will be identical to your own. Your most important job is to keep going. Even when you feel that you are drawing close to empty, let your determination be your fuel and push forward. There will be some nay-sayers along the way looking from the outside in, chattering on the side lines, or coaching from the bleachers. They are the small-minded. Those than can not fathom your leaps and bounds, let that be their problem. Know that their limitations do not have to be your own. Let them be who they are, but do not allow them or their doubts and fears deter, minimize, or sway you from what you know you are fully capable of. Until you are, get, or have your definition there will be others that will attempt to define you for you, but no one can define you better than you can so pay them no mind, and focus on your next move.

Sometimes there will be people who will take an opportunity to use, expose, or exploit your mistakes, failures, or mishaps. Remember that those people are lacking the drive necessary to draw them out of their pit of misery, and misery loves company. Pray for them, then prove them wrong. You can not and should not take up the task of even acknowledging everyone that has something negative on their tongue that is determined to speak against you, belittle you, or lessen your value. At the end of the day, no one can do more than say who or what they think you are, but their words have no weight unless they can prove it.  What people may say or think of you is beyond your control. Do not allow yourself to be stressed or distracted by those things. Instead, focus your energy on the success, achievement, and completion, of your challenges, your goals, and your dreams. Let your accomplishments speak for themselves, and be who you are. Tomorrow is for the next step. Take as many steps forward as you can today, but no matter where you are on your journey, be happy with that. Your journey may not be over, but remember that you have already come a long way.
