Saying Yes In Saying No

"No." It could be the most important statement you make in any one day, one moment, or one choice. Often people will see how great of a resource you are, how they can benefit from your input or influence, and even more often, some will have no self-restriction when it comes to deciding whether or not to use you all up. The good news is that they can only do it if you let them. "No" is universally one of the first words children learn. It is an essential part of their rearing, safety, and survival. Adults must re-establish the importance of 'no' in their every day life. Re-learn how to say 'no' and embrace the freedom that comes with it- not the guilt. Sure, you may be able and willing to help others, but you must also be mindful of what is best for you. Consciously maintain the balance between your ability and availability. Take a moment to pause and check-in within yourself and only say yes to what works in you. Your answer inside is always looking out for your best interest. Never be ashamed of being in the business of protecting your own well because your first responsibility is to yourself.
