The Boom
Some wait all year long to plan their next move. Some people actually wait until New Year's Eve to resolve to commit to making a number of big or small life altering changes in their lives. Some people will go an entire year suffering through the agony of loneliness, chaos, drama, lack of direction, heartache, disappointment, or fatness until 11:59 on December 31st. No one would argue with the fact that a new year is symbolic and draped in the greatness of the unknown blessings on their way. Everyone can appreciate the awe, wonder, grace, and hope that a fresh start can bring. There are few things better than the relief of a clean slate. But why? Why wait? As soon as the boom hits you, whether it is like a bolt of lightning, a random stroke of genius, or a gentle wind across your face on a breezy day, there is a push. Something inside you tells you exactly what your life needs more of, less than, or at the very least your attention year-round. Whenever it hits you it comes in with gusto. It comes with the burst of energy you need to take action, but it is entirely up to you to ignore it or be ignited by it. Who says your commitment or re-commitment to the betterment of your situation, relationship, career, or health should only come once a year? Who says that if you wait on it, it will show up again just in time for the New Year to roll in? That said, while the high of a new year is beginning to wind down, resolutions that were made are already being broken, and ambitions and goals are being put back on the back-burner again, when the next boom hits you, be ready to take advantage of it no matter what day it falls on.
